You can’t cure a brain tumor.

You might be surprised to know that there might be surgery options available to your grandmother in India. Because of the cost of coming to the US, it might be more economically feasible to travel in your own country for treatment.

I am going to provide several links, some about treatment because you will want to know the treatments available no matter what in country your granny has surgery. You need to know what questions to ask the surgeon. You need to know that you have every right to know the success rates as well.

The first link is How to find a surgeon:

I would mention that you should certainly be looking in New Delhi but there are fine hospitals and renowned neuro physicians in other cities as well:

The next is a news article about someone who had successful brain surgery in India – this is just to reassure you:

Next is a discussion about certain types of surgery:

Next an overview of different types of tumors:

Are you aware that many people travel to countries like India for lower cost-high quality surgeries?

In answer to your actual question, the costs are going to be high. The costs for hospitalization and surgical treatment can be as high as $ 200,000 US although it might be possible to find a $ 100,000 cost depending upon your granny’s health insurance. This certainly would not include the costs of travel and your stay.

Here is a link to basic round-trip airline tickets at about $ 840.00 per person just to give you an idea. I’m sure that you can find better prices on some of the many travel deal sites. (I did not use Expedia because I did not know either the departure city nor the actual destination.)

And then you would need a hotel. You can figure that these costs won’t be much less than $ 100.00 per day for lodging and meals. You would need to be there for examinations and tests just to determine if your granny is a candidate. So you might expect to be there for a few weeks at the least. On many cities your per diem might be much higher while in others they might be a little less.

Rather than panic and think that the grass is greener somewhere else, you might be better to spend fewer dollars to get more opinions in India. There are fine medical people there.

Best Wishes to both of you.
