Find some real good medicine ahead of time, and take it about 15 mins – 1/2 hour before the plane’s decent. GOOD LUCK (sounds awful).
I tend to get this pressure problem when I fly. An allergist friend of mine suggested I use a nasal spray like Afrin (medicated, not just saline). I have it in my carry on and use it 30 minutes before the flight, but you could take it before hand at home. The effects usually last 12hrs.
It opens your nasal passages and does elevate the pressure. You may also have to hold your nose and push air into your ears as you go up and down, chew gum, or use a nasal decongestant.
